Lily is so funny!

I am just in awe time and time again with this little girl. She makes me smile and laugh so much. Usually she is her funniest and cutest after the drama of a long drawn out day. So, I am usually a little frazzled and rarely have the camera at hand. I am trying to be better. I have a couple of videos to share. On one, she is watching Little Einsteins, one of her favorite shows.

On the other, she is trying out mommy's shoes. Lily has so much energy. She just goes and goes. Lucky for me she likes to sleep. That's when I get a chance to get things done and get my rest. We have been busy decorating for Christmas. Daddy has been in Dallas, but he should be home soon. We are hoping to start our Christmas baking next week. I never seem to know what to write in this blog. I am definitely not a creative writer by any means. More of a documenter. I can record what is happening in our lives, I can share it with others, but it's not going to be particularly witty or amusing. Well, except for Lily's antics, but that is all her.

Rocking Horse

Lily loves rocking horses. She really likes to do tricks!

So... We have had a productive weekend. Both mommy and Lily got shots yesterday...Yeah!!! And, today we finally got the media room dry-walled. It is actually coming together. I can't believe it. Really. I think it is going to be really neat when it is done. It really is Mike's baby. He has spent so much time working and planning and designing.

Lily and I will be happy when it is done because we will get to see more of Mike. He has been occupied lately. I would post pics but right now it is just a big empty room...but the other day it was much less. Just wood and insulation.

Lily is so cute!!!!

Lily is so stinkin' cute sometimes I just can't stand it.

I wasn't sure about the pippy pigtails, but Mike loved them! We are very lucky.

Where did November go?

I haven't posted much lately and time has just been flying by. I cannot believe it is almost Thanksgiving, and I haven't even put pictures of Lily from Halloween on here yet.
Halloween was a lot of fun, Lily was a kangaroo. We took her trick or treating at the mall in the afternoon and then around the neighborhood at night. Lily and Mike carved pumpkins. They had a blast, and then she sunk into her sugar coma and had a peaceful night's sleep.

Our Loss

Pumpkin has been our sweet kitty for the last 7 years, and sadly he was hit by a car yesterday. We are grieving for the loss of his presence in our lives. We aren't sure how he got out of the house, but he has never gotten out like this in the seven years we've had him. Tragically, while we were out searching for him, I actually hit him with the car. We aren't exactly sure how that happened either, but we believe it was an unavoidable accident. In the photo, he is the kitty to the left, and Weasels is on the right. Weasels seems to keep searching the house for his friend, and my heart is a little broken right now. Luckily Mike was there and took care of Pumpkin the best he could and has been taking care of me, too. We are so lucky to have him home with us again.

So, I am already a very bad blogger. First, Mike arrived home on June 21, and we are so very excited to have him home!!!

Lily and I were able to meet him at the hangar where we were able to watch him fly his plane into the airport and taxi in to us. We got to go right out to the plane as they got out and give him the biggest hugs ever.

Unfortunately, Lily didn't quite recognize Mike yet, and spent a good part of the next 2 hours screaming her head off at him. Granted, she was probably hungry too.

So, after that momentous occasion, we have just been enjoying Mike's leave and spending some long needed and missed time together as a family, finally. We were able to spend the 4th of July with Uncle Joe, Aunt Karen, Nate and Jake. We had a lot of fun swimming in the pool and eating lots of great food...as always. That Sunday, Mike was able to bless Lily, finally. It was sweet and simple, but so powerful. She is a lucky little girl to have such an amazing Dad.

Lily's Birthday

Lily really enjoyed her first birthday cake. She started slowly, but soon everything was covered in frosting. She had a blast. In hindsight, maybe we should have done the cake last.

My attempt at blogging.

So, I am just trying this out to see if I can get it to work. Apparently everyone is blogging now and we are just behind the times...again.
We just celebrated Lily's 1st birthday last week and we are looking forward to Mike's return from Iraq in late June. Only 3 weeks to go! We are so excited!
